Swiss Post launches IncaMail after successful trial |
|
Swiss Post is now offering the final version of IncaMail, the solution for sending e-mails securely and verifiably. The new IncaMail is easier to use and incorporates interfaces to Abacus and Crealogix business software solutions, enabling customers of those companies to send business items such as reminders and salary statements securely and in encrypted form. The Swiss Bar Association (SAV) recommends the solution as a way of ensuring confidentiality in communications with clients. Customers pay per item or purchase a subscription to use the service on a regular basis.
Swiss Post is offering its customers the final version of IncaMail, its solution for sending e-mails securely and verifiably, earlier than planned. This is in response to the positive feedback received from the 1,000 or so trial customers. The new version includes additional functions such as an interface for connecting to Abacus or Crealogix business software solutions. These applications have been integrated to meet the requirements of the many customers wishing to use IncaMail to handle their business mail securely, in encrypted form and with the option of verification. Based on the customer feedback, the solution has also been further developed and made easier to use.
Secure e-mails at a reasonable price
Unlike the trial version, the final version entails a charge. Under the prepaid option, users pay CHF 0.75 to send a confidential, encrypted e-mail and CHF 2 for Swiss Post registered mail, which also includes official confirmation of dispatch and receipt. For frequent users, Swiss Post is offering annual subscriptions from CHF 249. Recipients do not pay anything to receive messages and can reply free of charge. Early birds will benefit from special rates: there will be an introductory discount of 15 percent until 15 November and 10 percent from then until Christmas.
A variety of possible uses
Unencrypted e-mails can be viewed by anyone on the Internet. The new service plugs this security gap in a simple, yet secure manner. IncaMail has a variety of possible uses, such as sending electronic reminders to debtors, forwarding salary statements to employees and efficiently transmitting PIN codes to bank customers. IncaMail ensures that confidentiality is maintained in communicating with customers and patients and is therefore recommended by the Swiss Bar Association for electronic communications with clients. Individuals can use the service to submit applications, for example, or simply whenever security and confidentiality are crucial.
Easy to use
IncaMail is an easily accessible, web-based solution that uses the user’s own e-mail address to send secure messages. Without installing any other software, users can exchange e-mails securely, easily and with a verification option similar to registered mail. The service can be seamlessly integrated into all e-mail systems, including Outlook/Exchange, Notes, GroupWise, Thunderbird and Apple. At the sender’s request, Swiss Post will also provide a digitally signed Swiss Post receipt confirming when an e-mail was sent and “picked up”. Users requiring even more convenience and security will be able to seamlessly integrate the SwissPostCertificate (Swiss Post’s digital identity and electronic signature).

The service, which will be free in the beta phase, is particularly suited to the exchange of highly confidential information of a legal, financial or health-related nature.
With IncaMail 2.0, e-mails can be exchanged securely and easily and can also be traced – similar to a registered letter – without having to install additional software. Customers enjoy the electronic convenience and the reliability, discretion and experience of Swiss Post for the secure conveyance and delivery of confidential documents.
The web-based solution can be used by companies and individuals without having to install additional software. All you need is a mobile number to ensure that only the stipulated recipient can read the message. The entire message including the attachment is transmitted securely with our own Swiss cryptotechnology. In addition, Swiss Post can also provide the sender with confirmation of the time of dispatch and downloading of the electronic letter with a digitally signed postal receipt in the form of a PDF file, if requested. Users with even higher demands in terms of convenience and security can also seamlessly integrate the postal certificate (digital ID and electronic signature of Swiss Post).
Ideal for items with confidential contents
IncaMail 2.0 can be used for a wide variety of electronic communication entailing high demands in terms of confidentiality and security. For instance, a bank can use IncaMail 2.0 to communicate with clients in Switzerland and abroad, a lawyer can contact his clients or a physician his patients. Individuals can use the service for notices of termination, applications or wherever security and confidentiality are of paramount importance.
Initially available free as a test
Both individuals and companies are invited to test IncaMail 2.0 now as a beta release at www.incamail.ch. During the pilot phase, the platform will be available free of charge to all interested users for private or business purposes. The productive and commercial launch of the application is planned for the end of the year. The definitive product design and pricing will be communicated at this time.
The solution was developed by SwissSign AG, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swiss Post, together with PrivaSphere, a company based in Zurich for the secure and traceable exchange of data. Swiss Sign is part of the Strategic Customers & Solutions (SKL) group unit of Swiss Post.
IncaMail 2.0 is based on the current PrivaSphere platform and – in addition to a revised interface – offers a high-quality range of functions and security in the fields of certificates and digital receipt.
